True inherent self is beyond the reality of birth and death, yet underlying truth of its embodiment with  body is also a reality, 

For the embodied soul, salvation is a relative matter of getting freedom from the cycle of birth and death. Both the amalgamation processes last for a certain period and between them lies the truth of evolution.

Mukti is a term that is much more mundane than getting freedom from material attachments, but salvation is a truth of reaching its primordial source.

The one who knows the soul is the one who never faces death, although he appears in the physical form, yet in his subtle reality he transcends that state, but receives a proper transformation.
