Death is merely the passing away of the inner self, which resided within the body. The body was illuminated by the light of this inner self.

Upon the inner self's departure, the body becomes a lifeless instrument, its activity solely dependent on the presence of the Atman.

If the body were inherently powerful and capable of life without the spirit, death would not exist. The body was enlivened for a display of sound and light by the spirit, and the spirit was itself enlivened by the supreme reality. This activation of the self within the body serves a purpose known only to providence. Though difficult to believe and hard to face, it remains the truth.
